Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
